The Case for Recall

We believe that public office should be a beacon of transparency and accountability. Diane Burgis has consistently failed to meet the high standards of civic service required of a County Supervisor. Her lack of transparency and prioritization of political interests over the public good has eroded the trust of the people of Contra Costa County. We are calling for a change that prioritizes the community's best interests above all else.

Supervisor Diane Burgis has demonstrated a pattern and practice of advancing projects in District 3 despite significant objections from local residents and city officials. She has spent taxpayer dollars on projects that are not suited for their locations and that community concerns have not been given consideration.

As the elected representative for District 3, many constituents believe their voices have not been heard in these decisions.

Brentwood – Historic Veterans Memorial Hall and Fire Station

Despite public outrage, the Diane Burgis moved forward with plans to relocate the downtown fire station to property that was dedicated to veterans in 1921. Veterans and community members argued that the proposal failed to honor the historical purpose of the property.

Brentwood – East County Community Service Center

The County advanced plans for the East County Community Service Center despite concerns that the proposed project did not comply with Brentwood's city ordinances. Critics also objected to the County's decision not to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with the City of Brentwood to ensure the project would be built in compliance with local ordinances. She used our tax dollars to go over budget by 25 million without any public notice.

Discovery Bay – Harbor Pointe Project 170-Unit Housing Development

Residents raised objections to a proposed 170-unit housing development, expressing concerns that the project would significantly increase the community's population without the infrastructure needed to support that growth. Opponents argued that roads, public services, and other infrastructure should be addressed before approving a development of that size. Diane deferred a 7+ million developer fee with no payment deadline. This fee could have been used to build up the infrastructure to handle such a development.

Please review the blog section for more details on how she handles our tax dollars, spending more of our tax money on things we don't want, and doesn't care about her residents' objections.

Supervisor Diane Burgis is a spendthrift who spends money in an extravagant, careless, or recklessly wasteful way, without regard for their budget or financial consequences.  She rules District 3, she does not represent it.
