Why I Started This Recall
I did not start paying close attention to Supervisor Diane Burgis because of one vote or one disagreement.
I started paying attention because I saw a pattern.
Over the first six months of 2026, I watched major county projects move forward while residents were asking questions about costs, public outreach and the information being used to make decisions. I watched veterans fight over the future of property they believed had been dedicated for their use. I watched the County pursue a new sales tax while figures used to describe its financial need were later corrected. I watched residents in Discovery Bay argue that decisions affecting their community were being made without enough consideration for the infrastructure they would need.
And I kept coming back to the same question:
Who is listening to the people who live here?
This website is my attempt to document what I found.
What you'll find here
I do not expect anyone to support a recall simply because I say they should.
That is why these posts include dates, Board meetings, public records, letters, videos and other source material whenever possible. I want people to be able to look at the same information I looked at and make up their own minds.
The major issues I have been following are:
the Veterans Memorial property and proposed downtown Brentwood fire station;
the East County Community Service Center and its increasing cost;
Measure B and the information used to justify a 0.625% countywide sales tax;
the Harbor Pointe affordable-housing project in Discovery Bay; and
county raises and bonuses approved shortly after voters were asked to approve a tax increase.
Why a recall
A recall is serious. It should not be used because people simply disagree with an elected official.
For me, the issue is whether District 3 residents are being heard and whether major decisions involving our communities and our tax dollars are being made with enough transparency and accountability.
I believe the record described on this website raises enough concerns that voters deserve the opportunity to decide that question for themselves.
